Mr. Chow and I happened to be driving past the Heidelberg Pastry Shop on a sunny Saturday afternoon on our way home from the gym. We noticed a crowd gathered outside the shop, and decided to check out what the fuss was about. Maybe a celebrity sighting? (I was hoping for Justin Timberlake, Mr. Chow was hoping for Mila Kunis)
So we did what any two reasonable and hungry people would do. We ordered a Brat combo platter, thereby negating all of the combined calories burned at the gym. The combo goes for $9.95 and includes a bottle of soda, one Brat with sauerkraut, and potato salad. Sweet!
There are a couple of different Brats to choose from. I selected the “debrizener,” which is a spicy pork sausage. The Brat is served in a soft white roll and was a bit thinner than expected, which kinda threw off the bread-brat balance. It was also not as spicy as expected, and didn’t have enough ‘kraut. But I am never one to complain about a fresh grilled Brat. Delicious!
The potato salad had a nice balance of salt, pepper, vinegar, and something else that gave it a little spice. The potatoes were soft and tasty.
I accidentally deleted pictures of the Brat combo platter, so you will just have to trust that it looked as good as it tasted.
Although we have always known Heidelberg Bakery for their delicious baked sweets, we now also know them for the delicious Brats. We will definitely be back to check out some of the other Brats they offer.
