Ray’s Steak and Cheese

It’s not a cheese steak.
It’s not from Philadelphia.
It’s a Steak and Cheese, a la Michael Landrum.

And when you eat it, your heart might skip a beat.  Because your ventricles are clogging. But that’s okay because it’s just one bite. Or Two. Focus on the angels singing. Or the Eurythmics.

Because sweet dreams are made of this.

 

Who am I to disagree?





I’d travel the world and the seven seas. Everybody’s looking for something.

    

Don’t even ask us if it’s good. You know the answer to that one, silly.  Just go. Now. Please? I promise not to say “I told you so.”

  1. It’s been so long since I’ve had a good steak and cheese sub. And tater tots? Next level.

    Well I’m on the fence about this one. To start off this is pretty expensive. Its $10.99 – so with an order of tater tots and a drink you’re out $15+ for meal eaten in carry out type restaurant. Ok if we can get past that- the best thing about a Ray’s steak and cheese is that the meat used is prime quality. The not as good thing about a Ray’s steak and cheese is that the roll its served on is totally wrong. Its way to much bread for the sub and the bread isn’t very good – the one I had was even actually rather stale! Even if the roll had been fresher it wouldn’t have been a good complement for the sub- to much bread, no texture, and not very tasty. A less breadier roll with some crunch to it would be a better complement. The tater tots- I’m not a huge tater tot or french fry fan so I probably am not the best one to judge this one. However, I found the tater tots to be fine- nothing special but fine nevertheless. I do think that with a bit of tooling around Ray’s steak and cheese holds promise. For now though I would stick with Ray’s Hell Burgers.

      We didn’t notice the same bread vs meat balance. Our sandwich seemed to have a lot of meat and our bread wasn’t stale. Maybe we just got lucky? Will have to go back for one more to verify! 😉 One of our favorite things about the sandwich is the melted gooey cheese that isn’t whiz;)
